Data Legend

A

Water System Name
B Last Collection Date (LC)
Shows the most recent collection date from one or more samples used in these results. Frequency of these collections vary. A detailed list of collection dates can be found at the bottom of the page.
C Contaminant
D Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL)
This is the highest level allowed in drinking water, as designated by the EPA.
E Unit of Measure (µg/L and mg/L)
Contaminants are measured in micrograms per liter (µg/L) or milligrams per liter (mg/L). If a particular contaminant is measured in µg/L, all records in that column will also be measured in µg/L.
F Concentration Level
Compare this number to the MCL to see how your water measures up to EPA standards.
  Data Legend:

ZERO: Concentration level is less than the Method Detection Limit or Minimum Reporting Level and is considered a non-detect.

dash N/A: No record is available.
mid MID: Concentration level is over half of the MCL.
high HIGH: Concentration level is over 3/4 of the MCL.
over OVER: Concentration level exceeds the MCL.

°For simplicity, only one sample of lead and copper is given per water system. Multiple samples are usually taken from several different locations within each water system. Since the concentration levels vary according to location, we encourage you to visit the Illinois EPA website to determine lead and copper levels nearest your home.

More information about drinking water contaminants can be found on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency website.

All records were compiled from the Illinois EPA Drinking Water Watch, and are accurate as of December 2011.
